Malaysia buru emas dunia


Barisan pemain yang akan membawa cabaran Malaysia pada Kejohanan Remaja Dunia di Helsinki, Finland. Tiada dalam gambar Siti Safiyah Abdul Rahman dan Fatin Syazliana dan Yusuf Abdul Raof.


KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia membariskan pasukan mantap, diketuai juara Ranking Masters Dunia, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman untuk turun mempertahankan kejuaraan keseluruhan pada Kejohanan Boling Remaja Dunia di Tali Bowlat Helsinki, 23 Julai hingga 2 Ogos ini.

Selepas mengharungi dua kejohanan terakhir dengan cemerlang, pasukan negara meletakkan harapan tinggi untuk mengulangi pencapaian itu.

Pada Kejohanan 2006 di Berlin, kita pulang bersama empat pingat emas, satu perak dan tiga gangsa, manakala pada kejohanan 2008 di Orlando, Amerika Syarikat Malaysia meraih dua emas dan satu gangsa.

"Kami mengharapkan satu lagi keputusan yang baik pada kejohanan di Helsinki kali ini,'' kata pengurus pasukan, Cheah Ban Cheng.

Kejohanan Remaja Dunia adalah pertandingan bawah 21 tahun yang diadakan setiap dua tahun sekali.
Maksimum, empat peserta lelaki dan empat wanita mewakili setiap negara, merebut pingat emas dalam acara perseorangan, beregu, empat sepasukan, All Events dan Masters lelaki serta perempuan.

Selain Siti Safiyah, skuad perempuan Malaysia turut diperkuatkan oleh pemenang pingat emas Kejohanan Komanwel, Sin Li Jane, selain Fatin Syazliana Adi Nasution dan Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore, manakala Hee Kar Yen bertindak sebagai pemain simpanan.

Pasukan lelaki negara pula dibarisi oleh Aris Ardilla Santoshoh, Yusuf Abdul Raof, Syimir Abdul Razak, Khoo Beng Khai.

Khairy To Deliberate National Riders' Proposals Before Follow-up

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he would be looking at all the problems and suggestions raised by the national highway cycling racers before taking any follow-up actions. Khairy said he could not arbitrarily make decisions based on the closed-door meeting with the riders today without obtaining the views of other parties including the Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF). Malaysia To Send Two Junior Cyclists To World Junior Championship In Italy

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Two national junior cyclists have been picked to represent the country at the World Junior Track Cycling Championships in Montichiari, Italy in August. National back up squad manager Azrain Mohamed Yusof said Mohd Arfy Qhairant Amran and Mohd Fattah Amri Zaid were picked for the championships based on their performances throughout this year. "The championships is part of efforts to expose young riders at international competitions, so that they can be better prepared for the future," he told Bernama when contacted here Tuesday. Azrain said since they would be basically competing in the championship for exposure, there would be no specific target for Mohd Arfy and Mohd Fattah Amri, but if they return with medals, it would be a bonus. "It is however, not their first overseas competition and I believe they will not encounter any problems to adapt themselves to the conditions in Italy," he said. Mohd Arfy and Mohd Fattah w
