Wildcard gymnast Wan Yin makes it to the all-around final

PETALING JAYA: Rhythmic gymnast Lee Wan Nin, who made it through the back door for the Youth Olympic Games, served a pleasant surprise for Malaysia by qualifying for the individual all-around final in Singapore yesterday. The 15-year-old wildcard entry was placed fifth in the qualification rounds, chalking up scores of 23.800 (rope), 24.075 (hoop), 24.100 (ball) and 24.425 (clubs) for a total of 96.400 to make the top-12 final. Khairy To Deliberate National Riders' Proposals Before Follow-up

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he would be looking at all the problems and suggestions raised by the national highway cycling racers before taking any follow-up actions. Khairy said he could not arbitrarily make decisions based on the closed-door meeting with the riders today without obtaining the views of other parties including the Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF). "During the meeting this morning, some of the professional cyclists have voiced their views to improve the quality of national highway cycling programme. "I told them the matter will be discussed at a forum," he said. Malaysia To Send Two Junior Cyclists To World Junior Championship In Italy

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Two national junior cyclists have been picked to represent the country at the World Junior Track Cycling Championships in Montichiari, Italy in August. National back up squad manager Azrain Mohamed Yusof said Mohd Arfy Qhairant Amran and Mohd Fattah Amri Zaid were picked for the championships based on their performances throughout this year. "The championships is part of efforts to expose young riders at international competitions, so that they can be better prepared for the future," he told Bernama when contacted here Tuesday. Azrain said since they would be basically competing in the championship for exposure, there would be no specific target for Mohd Arfy and Mohd Fattah Amri, but if they return with medals, it would be a bonus.
